This is NOT a complaint about the knife or service from the vendor

My girlfriend got me one of the Northwoods Scagel folders for Vday. When I got home she had it open on top of the dresser and to say I was stoked would be an understatement.
Unfortunately there are a couple issues with the knife, I've received wonderful customer service so far and they are going to take care of me.

Here's the problem, once I saw the problems with the knife, she says "Damnit! I knew I should have got you the Umnumzaan!"

Sooooo.... What to do? Do I get the Northwoods Scagel fixed and have a gorgeous traditional folder? Or do I exchange it for an equally gorgeous modern heavy duty folder?
What are your opinions? I'm at a loss so far. I love both knives. The lines of each really speak to me, but they are in completely different categories.

I second Shotgun - GET BOTH.

Thats a tough one...grunt! I love my ZAAN - fit and finish are impeccable. Of course this is personal preference - I simply favor more technical/contemporary designs. Though the more I collect the more I am building an appreciation for more traditional designs. Will this be an EDC blade? Remember the zaan is a tactical folder and most sheeple will think its a sword :). Just check out the "My knife spooked my co-worker thread!!"

Oh I'd get both if I could! My paycheck comes from uncle Sam, and we have 3 girls:eek:

I had a large regular sebenza that I carried daily for about 3 years that I sold awhile back because of our situation(Ca cut the child care assistance program, so she was making just enough to put the girls in day care once that was gone, had to quit)
I loved that seb. And a bud just got the Um, and I'm very impressed with it too.
But on the other hand, the lines and styling of that Scagel are breathtaking! And I have thing for the natural patina that forms on carbon steel blades. One point down for the Scagel, is the lock is so tight, I couldn't release it with my fingers! it would eventually break in I know, but that was disheartening.
Ugh, this is a tough one:(

I'm leaning that way as well... I left it up to the girlfriend. Told her to do whatever she thought I'd be happier with, so we'll see.

Now if CRK made a carbon steel bladed Umnumzaan..... Oh it'd be sweeeet!
