Listen, the reason I tossed the blade this weekend is because I intend this to be a run of spectacular knives. I'm not settling for anything otherwise in this batch. There is now no way that blade makes the stack.

In this same line of thought I've reached a conundrum. I've cut and cut and cut the whole damn board up, but the new board of Goncalo Alves just isn't as pretty as the last. I've got 6 handles out of the last board that are glued up and pass muster. One warped and got tossed. Two are from the new board and look too plain IMHO.

So. I've got 6 sets of scales in Goncalo. I'm going to do the other three in lacewood. Which is another of my favorites. I hope this doesn't irritate anyone. I'd love to have your comments, and figure out a way to decide who wants the Lacewood more and/or who has to have Goncalo.

If I have to I'll order some more Goncalo from the net.

These knives will all be fantastic. And I'll just have to find other uses for the cut up Goncalo.

Lacewood is gorgeous. I got to play with the nessie Snow owns that you did in lacewood, and man it was purrddyyy...

Whoever goes with it, will not be dissapointed!!

Having no idea what it looks like I looked it up.

This caught my attention. Do you have any pics of it on other knives?

Stability: Moderate after drying. Medium movement is to be expected in use.

I believe this is lacewood.

If I go lacewood can I get a different inner layer than Osage(birch, maybe?)? I think it would work better with a lighter color wood IMHO. Is that possible?

Andy, I'm flexible. I have confidence that, regardless of wood, you'll turn out a great lookin' knife--I've never seen a bad handle on one of yours yet!

Ted. Yes. I can do a different under layer. The one in your picture is maple. Thats probably what I'll use.

I've made at least 20 knives in lacewood. They've all been favorites. But if there is oney'all would like better, please, let me know. Or, as stated, I can probably find and order some goncalo on the net.

I've also got enough of the Rosewood to do this three. Would y'all prefer rosewood?

The Rosewood is the knife on the bottom.

Andy, I am totally cool with whatever you make. You're the artist, and I'm just stoked to be on the list:D:thumbup:

If it eases things, I'll take the least perfect one of whatever wood. Get customers 1-8 taken care of, and i'll be happy to take knife number 9:thumbup: You seem to be very straight up with taking care of your customers, and I can respect that. You deserve a break with at least one easy-peasy one:D

I'm sure it'll be gorgeous, but I'm buying the knife for the name on it:cool:

I wouldn't mind the Rosewood but, hey, I'll take whatever material you put on it :D

Don't stress on it. It's all good

If I was on the list I would be happy with anything but in general I am happy with lighter colors. That's why I am patiently waiting for the next batch of knives.

I'm starting to feel like a jerk, but I really like the lacewood/maple combo. I like it better than the original wood combo. Sorry to be picky, but it's the last bit of my knife fund for awhile thanks to medical bills and taxes and that combo sure is pretty.:)

You will surely get yours this way Ted. No problem. No pain. Its one of my personal favorite wood combo's, and its going to look fantastic under your lens.

The rest will be Rosewood. Man I really love that rosewood too. Its funny, where I buy it the guy has a bin full of dirty old "scraps" (1.5" thick by 6 or 8" long by 2" wide) that he sells me. I may be the only one buying it.:p:thumbup:

Edited to add. The Rosewood will be paired with Osage.
