Convection microwaves versus "normal" microwaves?

My microwave has quit working. I did some shopping today and found some 1200 Watt microwaves and some others that were 1100 Watts with a "convection" heating element in them.

I don't do a lot of cookie baking or browning bread but, it looks like one of these newer convection microwaves might be a better option in the long run since I would run my stove less baking biscuits in the morning other similar oven related tasks.

Does anyone have recommendations for or against the newer enhanced microwaves?

Thanks!

I got a new microwave this summer. It's a Panasonic H665. It's 1300W of pure microwave, no "convection." This thing is amazingly powerful. I have had to cut my cooking times dramatically. Melting cheese in a sandwhich is seven seconds; the turntable doesn't even make a complete turn.

You ought to see the Microwaves in our cafeteria at work. I believe they are 2200w. WAY more powerful than my home one. They pop a bag of popcorn in about 40 seconds.

I bought a convection microwave a few years ago. Neither I nor my wife (who does most of the cookin') has EVER used the convection feature. Save your money.
