Here's possibly a good idea. (except if you like the way a star looks in the center of your screws.) This has been said before I'm sure. Make knives that can be CONVENIENTLY assembled and disassembled.

Stripped hex screws of some of the smallest bit sizes are a hassel. Philips or flat heads would make more sense to use especially in field use knives where something like a multi-tool or a thin key can be used to fix it. I've sliced straight lines across some of my work-folder's screws- and with a flat bit you can apply more pressure on the tightening.

Perhaps I'm just pissed right now at this kershaw.

I believe the problem is not in the screw but the tool used. The screws are most likely TORX not HEX.A hex driver will go in a torx screw, and will work- a few times - before stripping the teeth of the socket when tightening it down. With a properer size torx driver it is nearly impossible to strip the teeth in the screw.I give the appropriate torx driver(s) with any knife that may require disassembly.

Thanks...

I feel stupid. for knowing this and still using the hex in a torx because i'm tool lazy to go buy the tools.

Torx can be tightened a bit more than a hex screw, and the tools are not that expensive.
Don't get cheap tools, as they just lead to aggravation later on...
