Here in Brazil, Whatsapp is by far the most used but I noticed that it is not so popular in other countries so I am curious to know what apps do you all prefer.

I know that WhatsApp is popular around the world but I refuse to use anything associated w/Facebook (Meta).

For secure "chatting, I only use Signal or Telegram.

Both require your phone number but Signal is better than Telegram because telegram requires you to reveal all of your contacts & IP address. Signal also uses end-to-end encryption for ALL comms; not so Telegram.

We use Signal for the reasons stated above. We also use Zoom for video conferences because it runs on almost anything, which can be handy. And if your device is not too radically antique, it lets you set your own fantasy background like Jerry Seinfeld's 129 W 81st St. apartment or the gate room in Stargate SG-1.
