Has anyone take a damaged double-bit head and ground a pick into the damaged side?

I have a Black Raven that was badly damaged when it came to me--cleaned up the rust and have been mulling over what to do with it now.

Seems to me Black Ravens (even thrashed ones!) are highly collectible and consequently ought to be worth more to someone else untouched than modified for physical use by you. Maybe you can flog that one at auction and scoop up an ordinary head for the purpose of 'doctoring up'.

+1, would agree

I already threw it in the vinegar. Not sure how much it's worth now.

For sure this is not the museum artifact market you are catering to. 'Shining it up' to emphasize the emboss, seems to me, is what most nostalgia or curio seekers want.

That one is trashed and the stamp is gone. Do whatever you want with it - no guilt. There's hardly enough left for a pickaroon.

Although I can see the value in frugality, the benefit of a combo made out of a double bit axe may not be worth it. I think a regular picaroon would be safer and more ergonomic. A single blade made from a double bit is unbalanced and likely too light. Plus stuck in a log with the point sticking up a dangerous situation.
