Convert La Griffe for belt carry?

I love my Emerson La Griffe, but don't want to carry it neck chain style either over or under my shirt. I figure exposed on my belt, horizontal oriented, is the way to go. What authorities can argue with an exposed, less than 2" blade?

I once thought about glueing the existing kydex neck chain sheath to a belt buckle of a "scout style" belt to make it look like an ornament. But I don't want to wear the same style belt all the time.

Is there any way to get a sheath that is as close as possible to the included sheath, but made for belt attachment in the upright or horizontal carry position? Even more important, I'd need the thing either left or right cross-draw, once I decide what hand is best to use.

Thanks for your help.

Nice knife and sheath. Is that a Steve Korkum?

Also, I did the other link and it went to some site that didnt' mention Norman's name, but I sent a message through their contact page asking for Norman and about doing a custom one for La Griffe.

thanks - Maybe this can become a reality soon.

Stupid me! Just realized you wrote Normark, not Norman. Now they'll think I'm some sort of DoDo!

You should also be able to drill just a couple of extra holes and mount a Mini-TekLok on it.

OK - Where do I get a mini-teklok? Is this an intermediary attachment to a belt clip? Sorry about being so dense on the matter. Aslo, is teklock very strong attachment?

thanks

Hey Boink...

Thanks for the mention guys..:)

As far as converting a LaGriff over to belt carry,,well it can be as simple as drilling two holes and attching a horizontal loop...

Or it may be as difficault as building a new sheath body for it..

It all depends if there is enough meat to pop in a couple of screws...

In this case I'd stay away from a Tek Lok..
Great belt loop,, but you are going to be adding quite a bit of bulk to a fairly small sheath...

why don't you do this..

Shoot me an e-mail with your name and address,,and I'll send you one of my horizontal loops and hardware and you can attach it yourself..No Charge...
Use my loop as a template, drill two holes, screw it together and your ready for business...
I think you'll find my loop low key and will keep the knife Really close to your belt..
you don't want something flopping around and sticking out more than it has to..

If you are interested,, fire me off an e-mail,, I'll drop in in the post on Monday...

Hope that helps..

It's not every day that a business person shows tremendous customer service as has Normark. And I'm not even a customer yet!!

These are the types of things that make folks want to spend money so as to help support a business that shows some heart. Thank you for your offer, Normark!

Hey Boink..

Not a problem, glad to help...

Got your e-mail and it will go out early next week..

I'd like to purchase one of the belt loops as well if possible. I'd like to put my Griffe on my belt instead of under the shirt.

Hey Guys..

Just to bring this back to life for a minute..

Poboy..

Did you get a clip from me ???

Some whent out and I don't know who got them and who didn't..

It's obvious that Boink didn't....

Drop me a note if you asked for them and didn't get them...

Normark, is it possible for you to post a picture of the rig you're suggesting to Boink (some of us might get lucky and be able to jerry-rig something based on your idea). I have similar needs as Boink but also understand that you can't be giving away freebies to everyone who asks. Thanks.

Hey Toothed..

The best picture I have is the one Rob Simonich took for me of the Cuda Talons..

Look at my opening page on my site...

The clip in the middle left is the clip I'm talking about...

A clip like this,,not that particular one can do both horizontal and vertical belt carry..

The one pictured is only set up for horizontal carry...

The kit comes with 2 screws, 2 washers,2 chicago posts and the clip.

Hope that helps..

I didn't get one, but I would still like one. I sent you an email yesterday I think. thanks

Normark, thanks for the response. I checked out the photo at your site and the loop is entirely different from what I visualized in my mind. It was not my intent to rip-off your original design, rather, I was just clueless after reading your description of the loop to Boink. Fortunately, I'm not too dumb to know that it's wiser to order your kit than to try and jerry-rig an inferior substitute.
