Converting a flat ground blade into full convex...Pros and cons.(experts please help)

I there any benefit to it and whats the easiest way to do it and how to do it.I have a belt sander and am pretty good with it but never converted a blade to full convex before.I have put convex edge on many knives but wanna do full convex grind on some of my thicker blades like sk5trailmaster bowie.
 
I had a couple of Spyderco Bill Moran's (FB01 and FB02) full convex ground by Tom Krein a while ago before he stopped doing regrinds. Here are some pics:

Cutting performance was improved over stock. :)

Both were thin to begin with so a convex micro bevel was also added to improve edge stability from the zero grind.
