Converting an assist to a manual

So i was drilling a the detent hold in my cryo to try and give a detent so it would be a manual knife but i had no luck what should i do
 
You need a metal drilling bit that will bite into a harden steel blade. I think its called a carbide bit. A regular metal drilling bit wont bit into harden steel, especially a knives blade hardened at a minimum of 57
 
I just looked at my cryo that has a broken speedsafe spring, and it has a detent hole already,it's a rectangle but it definitely catches the detent ball in the lock bar. Yours has no hole at all?
 
A regular carbide masonry drill bit will go through like butter. Problem will be getting one small enough,although the hole doesn't need to be deep. If you got an1/8" bit and just started the hole it would probably work. I think how want hole slightly off center , as in the detent ball would catch more of the edge of hole. I'm not doing a good job explaining sorry. If the knife had the open blade facing down, when blade closes the ball would just catch the top of hole, so it would almost want to pull it shut further if it blade wasn't hitting the stop. Hope that helped.
