Convex BK-9?

Hey all.
I have been ogling the BK-9's for a while now, and will probably pick one up when I have some money.
Anyway, my thought is to do a full convex on it when I pick one up.
Has anyone ever done this?
If you have, did it make a significant difference in chopping performance?

Thanks

Convexing made a noticable difference on mine (in a good way). Puts a little more metal behind the edge too. If you want a chopper, I say go for it.

Though this probably does not help you too much, I convexed my BK3 and it has made a night & day difference in its performance. Even though it is still not the best chopper, convexing really helped it out.

So, in turn, I agree with tradewater; DO IT!!
I sincerely believe that you will not regret such a decision.

Whatever your choice is, I hope you enjoy it!!

There are a few floating around in some of the older threads. They worked incredibly well from what I recollect.

Thanks guys. I convex all my knives, but was curious how it affects performance with choppers.
Hopefully I will have a chance to pick one up pretty soon.

If it's done right, convexing will make it much better.

I've only convexed the tip of my BK9HH, about 2.5 inches back. Basically just the curve.

Interesting. I've never heard of convexing just part of the blade.
What benefit is there from doing it like that?

I wanted the edge near the tip to be stronger. I'll end up doing it to the entire edge eventually, I just didn't feel the need to do it all now.

Ok that makes sense. The HH model is meant to be stabby, so I guess it should be as strong as possible.
Thanks.

I've been putting off convexing my 9 for a while now, did it to my 2 and I love it. Once I get around to it I will toss some pictures up.
