Ok, I think I may be missing something here. In thread after thread on BladeForums and AllAboutPocketKnives I hear folks talking about a convex grind on their blades. But when I read the thread, invariably I get the impression they really mean "concave," which is what a "hollow ground" blade is. Concave describes the inside of a bowl; convex describes the outside of the bowl. I see this so consistently over the months that I think I may have missed something.Who is right here? Thanks!

Copied from wikipedia.

1. Hollow ground
2. Flat ground
3. Sabre ground
4. Chisel ground
5. Double bevel or compound bevel
6. Convex ground

Remember that on most knives there are two grind angles. The primary bevel and the secondary (edge) bevel. Scandis and full-convex are exceptions.

When people talk about convex edges, they are referring to the edge bevel not the grind. Hollow ground knives can be given a v-edge, convex edge, or even a chisel edge.

No one would ever hollow grind the actual edge. It would be incredibly weak with little performance advantage. Even straight razors do not have hollow edges (they're sort of a v-grind edge).

There are no secondary grinds on these, so #2, for example would be a zero-grind, no?
