Ever since getting my fat Ash1 that Garth put a BEAUTIFUL convex edge on.. I have fallen in love with how well convex slices, chops, an even simple whittling seems to be easier.
Im having a convex put on my RMD right now, anyone have a convex edge on their shallow hollow TGLB? an do you like it?

That's what im thinking THT... seems to me it would make for a pretty wicked blade..

Yes!

Here's my convexed and narrowed TGLB chopping

Currently have even narrower, almost zero grind on it

My Orange handled TGLB has been convexed on my WorkSharp to 20 degrees per side, it is almost a mirror edge and easily push cuts paper. I did the same to my Swamp Rat Rodent Solution and skinned and gutted an entire Buck Deer and the edge was still able to cleanly slice computer paper afterwards.

You machine that? Surface grinder?

Nope, it just ended up like that.
I laid it flat on mousepad/sandpaper and put pressure towards the edge to give it convex.
Then (later, not same project) afterwards I rubbed it with 160 grit paper to get rid of the coating on the primary bevel as seen in the pic, resulting in thinning out the secondary bevel.. or something :D
Then I gave it a little bit of regular sharpening on stone (ceramic).
It chops perfectly and cuts much better in woods tasks and so whatever bushcraft you want to call it. :)

Dude!! love when people surprise me with a Video!! sweet!! nice work A.L. I think im gonna do it!

That is pretty good for an 8" blade A.L.... I always test to 35 hits, and that must be thin at the edge to be that far along at 35... It is about equal to my benchmark Randall Model 12, which is 20 ounces and 8.9 inches (15 dps V edge)... This is especially so that the wood was not super secured...

Thanks! Yes, surprisingly good chopper, but you have to note my extended grip and good chopping technique too. ;D

My comp finish TGLB came with a convex edge. It is awesome!

Beating mine into submission right now with sand paper. trying to achieve about a average 25 degree convex angle on my beater!

Who's doing the edge on convex on the RMD?
