convex serrations on Blur

These convex serrations seem like they'd cut very smoothly. Normally I'd prefer a plain edge for a blade like the Blur's, but a B&M place that sells the drop-point version for less has only the semi-serrated model.

So are these type of serrations easy to maintain on a Sharpmaker? Do they hold up over time better than the standard serration patterns?

Thanks for any info!

Hi James

What we have found is that the scalloped serration pattern doesn't bind up as often when separating matter. Also we noticed the tips of the two-step pattern can have a tendency to break off.

Now I don't think the scallops have the aggressive look like the two-step, but they more than get the job done.

I would assume the Sharpmaker can handle touching this look up with no problem, although I've never personally attempted it.

Thanks, guys!
The worst cut I ever got from serrations was several years back while handling a Ka-Bar USMC that had a section of scalloped serrations, and that happened by accidentally, barely brushing my finger against them. While it was not a Kershaw, I own enough Kershaws to know that their edges are among the very best anywhere. And being a thinner blade, the Blur's teeth are probably sharper, too.

Yup, those scallops may not look aggressive, but they are deceptively scary sharp. Looks like I'll be saving up for one of those Blurs!
