Convex to v grind

I have a Spydie millie in s90v that I have sharpened too much on my SM.

The knife has a convex grind that isn't even. Spyderco will sharpen any of it's knives for free. Can they put a v grind back on this

knife? Could someone that knows what he's doing with a grinder put a v grind that's even back on this convex edge that isn't even on both sides?

Sure.

I'm sure Spyderco could do it, but they would probably do little more than "re-edge" the knife. It sounds like it might need a bit more than that... maybe some thinning, reprofiling, correction of the problems you mentioned, etc.

If you want that done, look no further than the pros in this forum... Jason B. or razor-edge-knives both specialize in sharpening, and do excellent work.

Theoretically the sharpmaker if used carefully would maintain a V grind. If you aren't real careful you would get a little convex shape in there, but I don't see that this is a bad thing. Spyderco sharpens their knives by hand with a belt sander so their results might vary a little bit. If you want the edge to look like a factory edge they might need to take off a lot of metal and they might not do that. I would suggest buying yourself a good guided system and using that to create a uniform edge, or find a professional service on this forum that will do that for you.
