Is there a reputable source for someone who can reprofile my Busses edges for me? I have a CG FBM and Meaner Street that I would like to have convex edges put on. I don't own a grinder or belt sander, nor do I possess the talent to do so even if I did.

Links or emails would be appreciated.

Tom Krein and Richard J. (both available through the forum) come to mind right
away but I'm sure there are plenty others who could do you a convex edge.

you could use sand paper and a mouse pad, ive seen it done pretty easily on youtube
Not as fast of course but will work

If you intend on using your CGFBM, you might as well learn to put an edge on it..... You dont want to get it dull and have to keep sending it off to someone else all the time, right?

Sharpening your own knives is a great skill to learn, and nothing is more fun than trying out different profiles, and edge finishes in the ultimate pursuit of the "perfect" sharpness.

Plus its nice showing off the edge to us knuts here, who love sharp, shiny edges. These are some shots of my FBM from a while back, I have been too lazy to take some shots of the new, sweeter edge....:D

If you are just looking to put a convex edge on it, I'm told the Busse Custom Shop can do it for free b/c sharpening is free. I contacted Garth (see the Busse subforum) about a month ago and that's what he said about putting a convex edge on my NMSFNO. If it needs or if you want reprofiling, that may cost extra, I don't know. But considering from what I've heard this is technically the only way to keep your warranty intact should the new edge cause failure (if done by someone other than Busse), I would suggest contacting Garth.

I got a couple knives done by Richard J, pretty inexpensive and fast turnaround. And the Busse shop is always an option too, as others have said.

thanks to everyone for the replies....I'll look into a couple of the members who do this work...it's a lot of INFI to do on a little bitty mouse pad.
