convexed edges: ESEE-6 + izula

Here's some pics of my 6 and izula after blade convexing. I used a 1200 grit japanese waterstone ($20 amazon) and 1/3 of a sheet of 400 grit black sandpaper ($.89 a sheet at hardware store) attached to a small block 'o wood. Definitely a little workout to round the corners on the 6 , but Izula took all of 5 min.

Nice work. Thanks for the heads up on the Amazon water stones. Might have to look in to those.
 
I believe that this isnt really a convex edge, due to the fact that it still has the edge angle from the waterstone and non flexible sandpaper backing. A convex edge has no set angle, and curves down to the edge instead, like a bullet. Looks great though man!
 
sandpaper and stones, great finish convo. You don't need a soft backing to produce a convex grind, freehand with a stone will convex the edge over time. A soft backing is convenient for the finish edge but you can easily round out a grind by hand with a wetstone.
