First of all, excuse me for the grainy photos. I had this problem day back but I thought it was darkness. I had the same problem shooting these until later I noticed someone had tempered with my camera's ISO settings! :thumbdn: Add to that, my brothers bad settings with Photoshop.. :grumpy:

Anyway, I did a convex job for my Glock 81 with sandpaper/mousepad combination and it's workind well. I didn't even want to try the factory edge, looking completely useless. I should have gotten a bit finer paper for finishing the edge, but it works nicely enough.

I don't see much use for the sawback, atleast in outdoors use. It's definitely not a bushcrafter, but it makes a ton better general utility knife now with the convex.

Good job on the convex. The root saw is very useful for what is pictured, making notches in poles for cordage and fitting them together. That is how I use mine. Also it throws great.

Now that I think of it, you could make some handy notches to help tie things together.

Also wanted to note that the imperfections in the edge is not damage, but rather the fault of poor pic quality and dirt on the blade.

I have a Glock knife in my BOB - took me a while to reprofile the edge to get it to cut. Keep us updated as to the edge retention.

the edge retention is not the best but it is a tough knife
mine got the bevel convexed too, very nice

What do you use it for Maxx? Mine holds the bite through all kinds of medium chores, even light digging. Mabye the edge is too thin for your uses.

I haven't used this that much yet, but mine seems to maintain edge well too. It's not a chopper, but the convex does wonders for that use too.

I love them. For the price they're pretty hard to beat. The edge retention isn't the best and they don't come perfect but the knife makes up for it in toughness and cost efficiency.

don't use it for anything special, usual uses for a 6" knife, cutting, light chopping and batoning
1055 is a good steel, of course some like 1095 are better
for sucha knife 1055 is a ggod choice, it is hard to break it or to chip the edge
