This is my black Izula that I just convexed today! I really wanted to get this as sharp as my BRKT Bravo 1. The wet/dry sandpaper did the job. I used 220, 400, 600, 1500, 2000. The gaps are from the lack of availability at my hardware store; also, I had to go to an auto store to get 2000. I nearly completely got rid of the black coating on the blade(can't tell because of the bad quality pic). The blade is now really smooth. I do not have a strop yet, but I will order one this week. It will most likely be the Bark River stropping compound(black/green).

Thanks,
Brad

P.S. I had the handle wrapped, but I wasn't overly excited about it, so I cut the paracord off and will be ordering the handle slabs.

Well... as long as you are happy with it :D.

I kinda like the coating on my izula. Don`t know why really...But then again... a convexed edge is sweet to

Yeah, I like the coating to..but I got bored so I had to create a project. I just now finished removing the coating due to me be a perfectionist. It looks sweet.

Im not sure how much you will benefit from a convex edge on that thin of a knife. I assume you have seen BLUNTRUTH4U on youtube with his convexing videos, if not check him out http://www.youtube.com/bluntruth4u . After you sharpen a knife your way you have a different sense about the knife. I love a knife to have character.

Looks good, the Izula benefits greatly from removing the coating and re-profiling the edge.

I convexed my Izula right after I got it and was freaked out at how sharp it was! I ran mine through the same sandpaper grits and then stropped it. You'll be nothing but happy with it.

I fully convexed my Izula the other day, having previously reground it to 15°. Man, what a difference in performance!

Yeah, I started out regrinding mine on my sharpmaker with the diamond rods, but those things were loosing their coarseness each stroke. So that idea got thrown out of the window and I convexed it. :D
