i'm considering doing it, but would really like to hear any advice... it's the kind of thing you can't undo

I did it with a work sharp sharpener using the angle guides. Three or four passes with the 80 grit on each side then just polished it up with the fine belts. Turned out nice and sharp, very even as well. I think you could do it easily with any belt sander, just need to hold the angle consistent and draw the blade across consistently, and keep the same amount of pressure. Honestly convexing such a large blade is probably easier than V grinding it on flat stones.

i'll be using a worksharp as well. i don't use the guides but my results so far have been fantastic

any pics of the edge on yours?

well, i went ahead and did it. The results are simply AWESOME... i need to get some polishing compound to finish off the final polish, but the edge on this blade is both sharper, and i'd be willing to guess, MUCH more durable.

pics? did you increase the edge angle? I have a stripped AK47 I'd like to convex and maybe ghetto satin or get blasted.

spent 15 minutes trying to take pics of the edge, and i can't seem to get one that doesn't totally suck

so here's the best i can manage. There are still very tiny scratches that are barely visible that i'm planning to take out as soon as i figure out how, but the blade is shaving sharp, and the edge looks like it's a lot more durable that the factory one

I used a WSKTS.
