Convexing Para 2 (S30V)

Lately I've been having difficulty getting that hair-popping edge on my Para2 in S30V. Using a DMT 220 grit ultra-coarse and DMT 600 grit (fine) I could get a nice biting edge that cut OK, but not quite shaving sharp -- maybe a characteristic of S30V, though I have no problem getting a hair-popping edge on my Mini-Rukus in S30V. So I decided to convex the Para 2, basically honing 'backwards', trailing the edge. Took about 50 strokes on the ultra-coarse, and about another 50 on the fine. PRESTO: hair-popping! Love the ergos and the Compression Lock on the Para 2, so it's back in my pocket.

spyderco s30v gets pretty charp. I don't have any problems with it. You probably had to do really light strokes.
I think I convexed mine pretty good though unintentionally. Freehand took me into pretty low angles and later i used sand paper and smoothed the transition further.

Well, unintentional or not, convexing worked pretty well. Llight strokes do seem to be most effective.

Mine is full convex, with invisible secondary edge, and cuts like crazy.Used belt sander,I like s30v,but the knife not so much and rarely use it...Military is one of my favorites
