I've been looking at the new FFG G10 Manix 2 for awhile and have considered getting one, but never see any in stock. I've got an opportunity to get a brand new one for a good price; however, the next knife on my immediate list was the Sage 2 for probably about $55 to $60 more. I held a Manix 2 (hollow ground 154cm version) the other day for the first time, and I remember it being ok in hand and the lock wasn't stiff like I've read about. I don't remember it as well because the feeling of the Sage 2 (and Sage 1 for that matter) was just so nice in my hand and had remarkable F/F.

I love everything about my PM2's, but I'm wondering for only about $20 less than what my PM2's cost and having the same steel (S30V), does the Manix 2 in the new version provide anything to make it worth buying while already owning a couple PM2's? I know that I want a Sage 2 at some point, and have considered holding off and seeing if another Manix 2 sprint comes along this year in different scale color and different steel and wait to buy that one since I already have several knives in S30V, but I've heard no rumors of that.

IMO, the manix is easier for lefties to use than the pm2, but thats all I can see.

I have the 154CM version and it's great. Gets a lot of carry, have never had any stiff lock issues. I would get one, especially for the FFG.

buy whatever makes you feels better in your hand. Let your gut take the lead on this one. Sounds like you picked already.

Do eet :)

I didn't think any spyderco or knife for that matter could beat my millitary but after getting mine in a trade it's my favorite knife and it continues to impress me more every day

I usually never get doubles but I already have the lightweight BD-1 version coming in next week from my wife as a bday gift

The Manix2 XL is one of my favorite edc knives.
It has great ergonomics plus the blade shape is very capable of any task.
For its price it is quite a winner.

I carry a manix 2 at work (154 cm steel) for the past few years. This is the most impressive knife I have ever carried. It is an absolute workhorse.

I reaponded to a non injury accident in the late spring. The vehies were drivable, but a honda civic had it's front bumper hanging off and it was immobile in that state. The driver was trying to pull it off because he couldn't afford a tow truck. He asked if I could help him out, but all I had was my manix 2...I didn't think it would do anything and expected a catastrophic failure.

The knife carved through the front bumper and the driver's side wheel well like it was nothing. The guy was able to put his bumper in the back seat and drive the vehicle just fine. Needless to say, my partner and I were quite impressed. (He now carries a manix 2 as well)

It is an awesome knife.

After realizing what I'll be paying back to Uncle Sam this year, I said screw it and figured I'd treat myself for being such a good little tax paying citizen. I have one on the way now, and will let you know what I think when I receive it. If anyone else is interested in getting one, feel free to message me and I'll let you know where I found mine for < $90 shipped--perks of being a member and not a lurker :D

Just me but here are my negatives. Too wide(takes up my whole pocket), too little edge length for such a big knife, jimping gone crazy(get uncomfortable when I use it for more than a few cuts).

I don't think it's as good as the Para2. I agree with the above poster - too wide and excessive jimping. But if you're a real Spyderco collector, you need one. :)

My PM2's are gone and I still have 2 Manix'. Both great knives but as with everyone, fit is relative. Pick one up on the exchange for a good price then turn it over if you don't care for it.

My thoughts were I'll try it out, and if I don't like it I won't lose too much money on it. Who knows, I might decide to trick this one out and put some different scales on it. Putman says it'll be 3 months at least before he's taking orders again. Who else makes good Manix scales?

Hey man, we can't help it that you have girlie hands. :)

Manix 2 all day. I got an XL for 90 shipped. Long blade. Perfect grip for my medium sized bear claw. It does everything my para did, but alot more with the extra edge. The para is a kick butt utility knife. The Manix is just more comfy and makes short work in the kitchen or with bigger cuts.

Might have to get you to make some scales for mine in the future. :)

Welp looks like I've picked up 2 blades today neither of which were #1 on my list to get...funny how that works ain't it? Looks like this thread is a moot point...
