Convince me to buy an Adamas

I had a good week at work, and have some money to blow on knives next week. I'm going to add a couple of folders to my collection, perhaps a fixed blade as well depending on prices. I'm looking at some Protechs and Benchmades, and one of the knives that I'm on the fence about is the Adamas. I just saw it in person and was surprised by how thick the handle is. It seemed even bulkier than my ZT 0300.

I'm sure there are folks here who carry an Adamas often. How does it feel in your pocket? How's Benchmade's D2 (I only have a D2 BM52)?

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY! When you handled it, did you notice how smooth it was? Total beast of a knife, although a bit bulky in pocket but I like that because I can feel it and know its safely there. Benchmade's D2 is one of the best. So, you better order one! My Adamas is my #1 knife, no matter what I buy.

In fact, I like it so much, I am going to buy the fixed version too.

It's a useless knife to me but I've seriously been considering one after getting a chance to handle it. Talking about the folder not fixie.

My girlfriend recently got me a custom Grip in D2, and I'm loving it so far. Holds a blade well. From what I understand it's a relatively brittle steel, but with the blade being only 4-5 inches it doesn't pose any problem. I'd pull the trigger on it. If I could afford it I definitely would!

It is my every day work knife. I just love how the blade just glides open and closed. Aesthetically, it is a very good looking knife. I would say try and handle one first and see how you like it. I was a little shocked at how heavy it was when I first got it

I don't see any reason to convince you. I f you haven't decided by now, why even ask.

I guess if you are going to war and can't carry a fixed blade, the Adamas is great (what it was intended for). But I just wanted something to carry when I couldn't carry my handgun and my Contego does that much better (thinner). I traded my Adamas.

Well, I've never handled an Adamas.
Not a big fan of Benchmade's spotty QC in the past.
Plus, the looks just don't do it for me.
I bought a Tops/Buck CSAR-T.
I can't imagine a better hard core use knife for the $.
I paid $87 for it.
It is big and heavy, but handles quite well.
Plus, I love the way it looks.

I carry the Adamas every day and 10 1/2 hour days of hard work 5 to 6 days a week. I still don't understand the being to big to carry complaint. Unless some of y'all are wearing those skinny jeans.
What I like about it.
It is a big strong knife that I can open and close one handed. I was a little skeptical of the D2 at first because I had heard it was hard to sharpen. That hasn't been the case. It seems to hod an edge well but will sharpen back up razor sharp in about 3 minutes with my Spyderco Sharpmaker.
I am sure you have seen the Russian guy's video on youtube by now. The Adamas has earned his highest rating for hard use knives so far over knives like Emerson CQC-7, ZT 350, Tops/Buck CSAR-T, Ontario XM-1 etc...

Yeah it can be carried, but i can't get anything else in the same pocket whereas i cab with smaller knives like the Contego. I like it otherwise.

I'm not in the US, there's only one store that sells decent knives (Spyderco, ZT, Benchmade, etc.) in the whole country and I'm somewhat limited to buying what they have in stock (although I also import knives myself from time to time). They've got a few BM folders and I've been meaning to add more axis lock models to my collection. I only gave the Adamas a quick look and it seemed too thick, but then I thought that I carry my ZT 0300 often so maybe the Adamas isn't that big after all. I'm asking other forum members to see if the size and weight is worth it or not, if there are any known issues with this model, etc.

I carry an Adamas in my EDC rotation and I love it. I don't mind the size of the blade and it doesn't get in the way of my daily routine. It does, however, give me the confidence knowing I can use it for almost any reasonable task that I encounter during my daily activities whether in the woods or in the house.

I had a ZT 0200 that I sold and bought an Adamas. The Adamas is thick but it is contoured and fills your hand, I like it, it also carries well for a big knife. The ZT was like holding a canned ham.
