Just bought a Queen Amber Large Congress. Thinking about returning it because I can't convince myself that I'll ever use 2 pen and 2 sheepsfoot blades. Who uses the knife and for what? I'm going to get a Cattle King but have to order it (shop didn't have one).

Help!

Don't keep it. Send it to me for disposal. Tonight. Hurry before you loose your resolve. LOL

It is a very comfortable pattern to use. You may never NEED 2 and 2, but like a muskrat, you have them if you do!

I have the Quen 4 bladed in white stagbone and the Queen 2 bladed in Cocobolo.

If I was still working as a carpenter and electrician, I would use the 4 bladed as my main work knife
One sheepsfoot I would use for marking out wood and stripping cable
The other sheepsfoot for food
A pen for small work, and the other for splinters!

If you want to use the 4 bladed for whittling, sharpen the blades differently
Of the pair, one set rough for fast removal, and the second set polished for fine work
The congress shape and size sits in my hand very comfortably for longer work like whittling
The sheepsfoot is quite narrow and slices very well
The pen is swedged nicely so you have a very strong point for fine work

I carry the two bladed version much more, it being slimmer. The wood makes for an even slimmer knife than bone.

Queen have the 2 bladed in Maple, which is a lovely wood.
Keep the Congress pattern, and exchange the 4 bladed for the 2 bladed?

You could make it a passaround for our considered evaluation:D

Big knife, but the bone on that pattern is very good:thumbup:

I keep mine on my workbench it's a brute just looking for a tough task.

I'm going to sleep on it one more night because I'll have the opportunity to visit the shop tomorrow. I may just let it be the first of several Queen amber models although I think I'd use a longer blade more (already having a drawer-full of slippies and other folders).

When the smoke clears, I'll report so you can all laugh at my indecision. Obviously, if knife funds were unlimited, I'd already have had this one for years!!
