Im new to Busses, but I collect knives and have a respectable collection in my opinion. I really like that new Battle Mistress thats now available but Im not too enamored with the blade coatings, so..... Im thinking of getting the LE! One hell of a first Busse, huh?

Anyhow, please tell me, in your opinion, why I should get it and not an Bushmaster AR-15! LOL.

Thanks...

Hey bro! its a easy choice! the NMFBM is a
Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Battle Mistress of INFI goodness! & you won't have any Splash back with a Busse knife!!!:D

I agree with what someone posted on another thread. If you strip the CG NMFBM I believe you will find a very nice finish underneath. Guys who have stripped the ASH 1's seem to have basically a double cut finish under the coating. No INFI dimples to speak of. For the 300 dollar difference, I don't need a # and I can strip one pretty easy and pocket the difference in cost. Just my opinion, but I can't bring myself to use an 800 dollar knife and so I will probably never own an 800 dollar knife.

Get both!!

The perfect combo!!

You can buy an AR-15 for about the same price now and a year from now. Not so with the NMFBM. That is why you need to join the madness.

As a owner of some fine firearms, I have asked myself this question many times... and I have come up with the answer of: you pay for what you get. If you are setting up your Kit, you want the best Danner boots $229, a well made vest blackhawk, Arktis, Eagle, $150-$400, your weapon will be anywhere between $1,500 for an AR decked out with ACOG, rails, surefire, laser, etc up to an FN, Steyr, Springfield, again, $2,000 or more depending on sighting system extra mags etc.. Well, your knife is part of your kit as well. Not that you have to go HOG wild and buy a bunch, I started out in 98 with a Steel heart II, Badger attack and a Mean street, which took care of all my tactical needs, eventually picked up a Battle mistress when they first came out, because the other Busses were so indestructable.. Now, I've just become addicted to these knives and just having them in my hands... They will never go down in Value like your weapon, and they are an extremely functional part of your kit whether tactical, backpacking, general outdoors use, catch myself even getting one for kitchen duty every once in a while. they just grow on you. I used to argue with myself over spending $2,500 on a Safe, until I had a break in back in 88, then I figured it was about the cost of one of my FNs or Steyr Augs, and bought 2. So, yes, Busses are expensive, but well worth the money if your life ever depended upon an edged weapon to build a shelter, dig out a hole, build a raft, hack out an LZ or use as a weapon.. You don't have to buy a bunch, but definately get one.. If you did not get an ASH1, you've missed an incredible blade. they still have the skinny at the store. Good luck, you won't go wrong with these knives. Fortunately, they are not trying to ban knives yet from us. (If you don't have a good AR yet at all or similar piece, yes, buy it first "remember never bring a knife to a gunfight" but if you already have some, then it's time to upgrade your kit and get a lifetime blade....whew, rambling tonight!"

Buy a CG and strip it... If you want you can apply a satin finish yourself..

I just can't see myself spending double for almost the exact same blade.. .
A solution is instead of 1 LE buy 2 CG's and strip both. Those are my plans at least ..

I agree with fbusmc. If you do not have the AR's that you want, you best buy them now. They may well be banned after the election. If you are set in the AR department, then yes, you need a quality knife like the Battle Mistress. And yes, the LE would be a great one. It may be your first, but it will not be your last.

Possibly. Once Obama gets in who knows!

Thanks for all the replies! I agree, a knife is a tool I will use often, a gun rarely. The IMI .40 I bought a couple years ago for $350 is worth like $600 now, so not all guns decrease in value.

I think a good answer for you would be. Buy one because it feels good. You can't swing and whack away with an AR-15. There is a subtle primordial pleasure in grasping the handle of a powerful blade like the Busse NMFB. And if you get tired of the thrill - sell it for a profit.

Busse is as good as it gets for a big chopper. Nothing is better and only a limited number will even compete. Bushmaster is a middle of the road AR company and that's being kind. They're not milspec and I wouldn't make one my SHTF rifle. Compare your Busse to a Colt or LMT AR and you'll be more on target as to what kind of quality of a weapon you're getting. Plus you can get 2 NMFBM LE's for the cost of one rifle and that's pushing it with a quality optic.

Before anyone jumps on me, Bushmaster does not use a milspec reciever extension (weaker), a milspec front sight base (virtually imposible to get a battlefield zero), nor a milspec rifling twist rate (inaccurate with the heaviest 5.56 loads) and the barrel isn't high pressure tested either. Plus the single most important part of your rifle, the Bolt Carrier Group is not milspec and is the most common part to fail. It is not HP or MPI tested nor shot peened, it does not have proper carrier key staking and its extractor insert is blue instead of black (too weak to depend on). I could go on but a rifle that's fully tested, meeting atleast the milspec minimum will be a better choice than one that may or may not be a "good" one. Some company's put out a product they know works. IMO Busse Combat is a company like LMT that puts out the highest quality kit you can get.

So buy the Busse :)

Sorry, I spend too much time on m4carbine.net ;)

agreed. for me the rifle would be either a colt or wilson combat.

and i believe bushmaster also uses cast parts in places where colt would use a forged part. that is, iirc.

You got me, Im getting it. The part about selling it for a profit if need be makes sense.

Thanks for all the AR-15 info. My friend traded a Colt for a Bushmaster. What a douche.

Get the NMFBM - It was my first Busse purchase and I placed an order for CG grade this morning :)
