Im still alive, just been very busy. Today I got alittle time to myself and traveled down past kowaliga bridge to the Russell blacksmith shop. I recently bought a 500lb anvil and wanted to make a stand like the one pictured,so I went down and took measurements, the anvil pictured is 475lbs, figured I would take a few pics and share them, hope you like,Charlie

How about some pics of the new anvil, buddy?

Very nice ! Nicely laid stone .The disk on the pole , a wok for hot lunches ??

Great anvil, but I personally think that if your going to use it, putting it on a stand like that is a mistake. It will be so loud that you'll have to wear earplugs, and it will work more like it's half the weight if place on a metal stand. You'll get much more "energy" transfer into your work if you place it on a solid wooden stand.

That's true- I had a hollow stand I built for my 172# PW anvil, and after getting another PW anvil at 119#, I just put the smaller anvil on a stump on the concrete floor. I was forging one day and for some reason switched from the 172 on the stand to the 119 on the stump and immediately was getting a lot more work done. So I put the big anvil on the stump and wow, BIG difference. Now I have stumps under both, and under my swage block.
