Looks like he is using some type of kukri he knapped from stone, hard to tell. Check out 1:28. The shape looks like a kuk in shape. I haven't done any investigations on the source for validity, but it's still https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=125&v=nCKkHqlx9dE

Thats pretty cool. Awesome shelter:thumbup: Definitely looks Khuk shaped. Looks like he made a knot or bulbous end to hold on to instead of a long handle. He must have had plenty of time in the doghouse Ive always wanted to knapp out a Khuk. I figure you got to get the waist pretty thick or it would not hold up very well.

I watched that one a little while back. I was VERY impressed with the chimney and fireplace design. He had it drawing VERY well and got it pulling all the smoke from the fire keeping the inside of the building smoke free. Quite the sturdy building too. And when you take into it that he built all his tools as well starting with making the stone age Khuk, well it was just seriously impressive. If I ever got stranded in the middle of no where I would certainly hope it was with someone that skilled. I have been trying to tease hubby into improving his hut building skills with this video. So far he hasn't taken the bait though

My wife always thought I had some Neanderthal in me. By the time I knapp all the rest off the edges and sharpen it up it will be considerably smaller but it does look cool as is. I just started knapping about three weeks ago. Ive only got about 200 pounds of flint chips behind me. I havent earned "Flintdog" yet I made a few arrowheads but I aint showing them to anyone yet. I really have wanted to try to do a Khuk but I suspect it would be really hard to not break the waist. I like the way the guy in the vid did it with the bulbous end instead of a handle per se. Might be the way to do it. Ill keep my eyes open for a properly shaped piece of flint. Apparently the flint in central TX is really sought after. I dont even have to go look for it. The county uses it for flood control and dumps truckloads of the stuff up and down the ditches.
