I made one and did a test run before I cut down any trees. It took a little adjusting and a few special words but it works.

You betcha you would be. Dozens of natural materials and dozens of manmade materials to make cordage from, all of which make better cordage. Extremely few found containers will be better than a 2L. This is a centuries old method for making lacing from hides. He does make it look fun though!It's a cool idea,
I wander if I would be better off keeping the 2 liter for water storage.
