Digging thru swap meet junk knife display and found this well used (non-collector grade) 3 blade (carbon steel) Stockman. Did not look like this upon arrival.
Prior owner really appreciated the quality of this knife as they obviously used the heck out of it. Too me , the redbone scales are beautiful. Thru on-line research I believe this to be of the 65’-69’ series (please correct if I’m wrong). I love everything about this knife. Not collector grade or value , but I will add it to the EDC wing of my collection. Just a lucky find for me but I am aware CASE sold these for years so many survivors out there. I gave $3. Any fans of this series here ?

There are in the Traditional Forum. Moving this thread there now.

Great pictures, BTW.

Nice! Love the pocket worn bone, was jigged now smooth! That knife could tell some stories.

I had a case medium stockman for years and gave it to a fellow member of this forum. Extremely well built knife. I don’t recall the number, but it was slightly different from yours and not as old. Definitely didn’t have those beautiful bone covers. No doubt you’ll find some great folks around here that have examples of that exact model.

Welcome to the finest corner of the internet!

Looks almost like somebody cleaned that one real hard at some point.....
Anyway, here is what a red bone 47 pattern looked like when new...

Arathol … I do like the look of the N.O.S. Red bone scales…. but there is something appealing about the patina of this Stockmans scales. I agree , some previous owner must have been an aggressive cleaner.

Thanks for the appreciation of the blade …. I will continue to put it to good use. 👍🏻

Congrats.

You're a much better man than I, I have a hard time appreciating knives that have been sharpened so much and I probably would have left the knife there considering it worn out.

I don't mind rough scratched and pitted blades with loads of dark patina , but have a hard time looking at a knife that's seen a stone so many times.
I'm sure glad there are people out there to appreciate knives like this, because it would be a shame if everybody was like me.

Hickory …. It was a few minutes of decision …. I figured $3 is less than a Starbucks coffee so… truth of the matter , I enjoy the rehab process. I am glad there are folks out there that appreciate the “collectibles”…. And appreciate all factions of the knife game.

I’d have snatched it up myself. There is something beautiful about a well used knife.
