the wife and I played hooky today and went on an awesome hike...it was really hot in the 90's with hunidity around 80% made the ascents tough...Saw the hugest Tom turkey I've ever seen (think I'll go back there in the fall) Also spotted a small set of black bear tracks in the mud (it looked to be a small one but still cool to see) and I found the shed skin of a northern timber rattler (Which I thought was just the bees knees) It's now in a jar in my home, my wie thinks I'm crazy....also got to break in my new maxpedition devildog lumbar pack...(I saw it on myakka's thread the wife got it for me for fathers day) it's really an awesome piece of gear built to last and comfortable, plenty of room for a dayhike, or a short warm weather campout...and it accomodates 2 nalgenes (which was handy in the heat)

Sounds like a great time. I have never turkey hunted always say I am going to but never get around to it, probably because the season around here is the same time fishing starts to get good. Chris

Same problem here, I get in for a day or so, then steelhead season starts...they are planning a fall hunt here for them, but it coincides with the fall salmon run...live is never perfect!

Man, nothing like taking a "mental health" day off work and doing something fun! Sounds like a great hike.
