I drove down to Eugene to check out the OKCA and found this cool knife.
at first I walked around the whole show to check everything out. (I have made the mistake in the past of buying too early, then finding something I liked better later.)

I saw a lot of knives that I liked, but nothing that needed. I did really like this knife, but at first it was a bit high for me. After talking with the gentleman he said he might mark it down as he was trying to sell. Since he was in the first couple rows; and there were people waiting, I continued on with the show. To make a long story short, I checked out the rest of the show, and thought I would just keep my money - because I have a CAS knife coming in a few months that I need to pay for as well.

So I left the show to go have lunch. While at lunch, I did some checking on my phone and found what similar (production versions) of this knife had gone for online. I then thought I'd go back and put in an offer. if he took it, good, no biggie if not.

When I got back to the show I asked what he marked the knife to. He had put it $5.00 under what I was going to offer. (which was a pretty significant discount) Then he started telling me about the knife and pulled out the magazine and literature below.

Come to find out he is/was a knife instructor and personally knew the original designer of the knife.

Anyways, here are some pics...

Didn't see you at the show - were you there today? I still have the "Solo" and the bigger Bolo knife I picked up from you at Blade West 2007ish??? I think it was. The Solo is still one of my favorites!

Congratulations for buying the knife.

I bought my first (and several more) Spyderco's from Erik. He is a great guy.

Most people do not know that Erik Remmen was the driving force behind the starting of having the ability to put your clip mounted on the right or left hand side of your pocket knife. This came about when he was teaching his Clipit Course, and working with Sal Glesser of Spyderco made some of the first dual side clips available. John

yeah, that is weird, I went to the site where they were hosted, and now the entire site seems down??? (postimg.org - incase anyone else has photos hosted there)

ETA - if anyone else uses postimg.org, change the web address for the image from postimg.org/pic_name to postimg.cc/pic name and it should work.
