Nice pouch John, and great pics! I had to look twice at this one to see that is was what made, the pics make it look like some kind of professional outfit lol. Let me know if you need a few tips on using it. They are super easy to use once you understand and get the hang of it. If you have never used one before it can seem impossible without some helpful tips. You should definitely throw a tin knife and a ferro rod in the pouch too. Good times. I might just have to make myself a little pouch like that!
Thanks for the comments guys. John, enjoy it! I know you claimed the first one I make for sale, but you have been more than kind and a good friend. So you are going to have to live with the freebie for now!
I made three of these for the CA Bush Bash, and assembled the kit in an altoids tin, I had a few tin knives hanging around so I threw those in as well along with a ferro rod. Rain scared most folk away from the Bash so we really didn't do much trading, and I had no intention of bringing them back home so I gave Mike and Family two at the bash, and sent John the third (I figure he can add his own tin knife).
I put the kit together because of the tin knife. It makes a great ferro rod striker, and (thus the name) fits in an altoids tin perfectly. The ferro rod, tin knife and a little tinder did not fill the tin, so I decided to get some more forging practice in and made a striker. I threw in some char cloth and flint to fill the tin and BAM, a really sweet fire kit built around the tin knife.
Here was the first one I made, shows how it all packs up nice in the tin. I can't believe I did not originally post this in John's Forum.
