Here is a cool modded Tachyon with clip. This knife has been lightly flipped but the blade is unused and the knife is in overall excellent condition. This is the rarer Tachyon with the boron carbide coated blade. Serial # 1026, made in 2/2002. STR (one of our very own) did an amazing job crafting a clip that exactly matches the finish on the Tachyon's handles. It looks as if the clip should have come with the knife! This clip mod makes this Tachyon an awesome EDC. The clip rides very comfortably in the pocket and slides easily on and off the pocket.
The only downside to this knife is that I sent the knife to STR to correct what had been an initial "unprofessional" job done by a machinist to install a clip. I discarded the original clip, but the crude clip seat and some scratches around the clip seat area remain. On the reverse I had to replace a screw and could not locate one to match the others exactly so I used a similar stainless steel screw.
The mod actually improves the knife in my opinion, and it's the only Tachyon I know of with a clip. The clip seat is a little crude around the base of the clip and there are some scratches on the handle in that area. Also the one screw on the reverse is not original. Other than that, this knife flips just like a Tachyon should--smooth as butter, with great precision and tolerances. Makes a great EDC/flipper. It comes in the original box with sheath and paperwork. Asking $500 --> $475 --> $450 shipped insured!
