Cool taser video

Gonna shoot this off to Gadgets & Gear for better discussion. :)

I think it points out something very important. The taser may not be fully effective against all people. This guy, who doesn't seem in the video to be either that "tough" on any sort of drugs, almost manages to get up several times.

I've been wanting to try one of these things myself and see just what affect it would have on me personally. But, they're very hard to get ahold of.

well i guess it means the taser is effective in stopping you while you're being shocked, but its up to the individual to decide "now do i want to go through that unpleasant event again?" even when their they're way f'ed on drugs it still does its job, making your muscles release the lactic acid causing them to lock up or whatever it does.

It works great when its on. The pulses block the nervous system and you cant move. Hurts like hell as well. Of course when its over, its over.

Actually, the times he attempts to get up are right after the 5 second shock stops. I just got rid of one of these here on the forums less than a week ago. I had a buddy sell it to me. He had to try to buy it, but I lucked out. :D

He said it's like a total brain shut down. You can't think and your body just goes limp. They are EXTREMELY safe, so safe that you can use them on a 2 or 75 year old. Not that you would want to. If you want further info, it's in my post Really Cool Taser under G&G for sale. It's sold.

If you turn your volume up, you can hear the "Crackling" of the taser. It is quick and they are funnnnnnnnnnn. They start out around $400 and have a feel similar to that of a glock (Designed that way). The officer had the more expensive version with the built in laser sight. You can see it on the subjects shirt before the officer fires the first.

Also, the cartridges have two metal prongs built in so he can, for example: Taser the guy in the video and touch taser the Passenger (Passenger being added to video). Very cool and effective

I didn't watch this video, but in training they showed us one of an officer who kept a guy under control for 30 minutes while his backup arrived. The offender was a belligerant drunk who kept trying to attack the officer; he'd get zapped, go down, groan for a few seconds, then try it again.
I notice that Taser International is still getting a lot of flack, including accusations of "cooking the books", ei=inflating profit figures to attract more investors.
One of our local newsmen got himself zapped the other night as a public service...

If someone is able to regain muscle control and mental faculty enough to try and get up, you'd think they might try to pull the electrode out? I understand that it's barbed, but pull hard and it'll come. Or maybe a person could pull on the wire and pull that gun away from the officer? Someone with a knife could maybe cut the wire? I'm just playing devil's advocate here.

Exactly what I'm thinking. I kept waiting for him to do that. I'm guessing that there's a recharge time in the Taser and it can only be 'on' for a certain length of time before it has to rest. That would be the perfect time to pull the probes out. However, this is all assuming that the taser is the only thing the officer is armed with, which of course isn't the case.

Well, that's a different question entirely. Right now, I'm just concerned with the Taser.

Good point...In your eariler post. I just recalled an episode of cops where an officer tased a guy and he was actually able to rip the prong out. Don't know how rare it is. They are still Highly effective IMO. They will not shock the officer detaining the subject with another officer engaging the trigger. The only exception is if the officer detaining Mr. Perp places a body part directly between the probes. IIRC, the probes are insulated as well.

woah
in that case, how do we get the prongs out after firing?
i'd imagine the newsman to be more than a tad PO'ed when he had to go to the hospital to get stitched up

If you guys, I don't think you would ;), remember the first episode of Jack***, Johnny Knoxville was hit with one similar. He had to HEAVILY pull on them with pliers. Looked nasty, but if any stitches, would only require 1.
