Cool Use for a Meaner Street

First of all I would like to tell everyone how handy it is to carry a fixed blade knife on duty. I have always carried a good pocketknife, but I would have never dared doing some of the things I have done with my meaner. I also wanted to thank David E he took the time to listen to me and make a really cool sheath for it for my duty belt, which is no small task.

2 Weeks ago during the ice storm we had here in the midwest, about 2 in the morning I found a Ford explorer overturned in a ditch. There was a lady trapped inside the truck and she had bee sitting there for quite some time. Myself and another officer went to the front under the vehicle and I used my meaner to cut the winshield out of the truck. I was very impressed with how well the knife held up and the fire department was disappointed that they did not get to save the day. After cutting all four sides of the windshield it was still sharp enough to cut a seatbelt. It looks pretty rough right now, I am gonna try for the first time to post pics so here goes.

sonofab*tch. Now that's what I'm talkin about. No posing, pure usage.

Nice! Good to know your Busse stepped up and helped save the day.

Thanks for what you do man.

I forgot to mention I also cut through a mobile home with it. I guess I am gonna have to sharpen it now...

I edc a meaner. Its good to know I have a knife that can handle pretty much everything I dish out to it.

CLEVER THINKING:D Nice work!!! The blade doesn't even look all that rough.

Nice pics as well. If you get a chance I'd love to see the sheath you carry it in as well. Thanks.

Rob, when you told me what you did with it and how "bad" it looked, I pictured something entirely different !

I'd say it held up just fine !!!

Let me know if you need/want help sharpening that sucker.

But I ESPECIALLY like the part about the Fire Dept being disappointed that THEY didn't get to cut or destroy anything !! :D :D :D

.

Rob--AWESOME!!! That's what using a Busse is all about!! Good on you! :D

A girl needs a knife...

The lighting is all wrong in those pics, you should have used more light from the bottom, and the background is totally wrong.

PS

>insert trademarked freakingawesome quote here<

Welcome to the brotherhood of the fixed blade, repeat after me,

"thou shalt not fold thy knife"

That one is barely scratched.

Great report. Thanks for sharing it and the pics.

Oh my friggin spaghetti monster. That's what it looks like after cutting out a windshield? And it cut the seatbelt, too?

I actually just got done writing to someone else on another thread that Meaners were too small for camp knives. Blazen, if you're reading this, forget everything I said. Apparently a Meaner is capable of re-building the Roman Empire. I'm sorry I doubted mine. :o

I guess that is why we drink the kool-aid. Great display of why we choose Busse. I now have even more confidence in my EDC! Thank-you for sharing. John

Great field report and pretty darned good pics to boot!

Nice job Rob!

Send it in and we'll sharpen her up for you. . .

Thanks for your service,

Jerry

Good work! I see only some rolling and maybe denting. Nothing a good sharpening won't fix. That's a hard use knife for you. Cutting off a windshield? No problem. :D
