As a marine biologist that works closely with commercial and recreational fishermen, I hate to see lost fishing gear interacting with marine life in this way. I am glad that these people happened upon the unfortunate seals, had a sharp knife handy, and were able to free them. It looks like a multi-tool though and not a 110.

Yeah you could be right on the knife.
