Hey I just saw this quick video about finding a seax at the bottom of a well where the water protected the handle. It's in fantastic condition and you can see all the carving. I guess in tact handles are really rare. They haven't cleaned up the blade yet. I have always loved them. This might inspire me to do a project.

The carved detail on that is so awesome. I wonder what the blade looks like.

That's my favorite YouTube channel. If you
ever want to know how stuff was built or used back then Matt is fun to watch and knows his stuff. He did one with Todd of Today work shop and Todds Stuff where there had students from Matt's fighting gym try flails in a realistic fight and it was super interesting to watch. I don't know why they never out European Martial Arts in movies. They are really interesting to watch. Apparently swords didn't cut through plate armor like paper and people actually had to work at it. I'm a total nerd for all that knight in armor stuff. I'm not going to lie, my welding correer and my interest in knives go back to my interest in swords and knights and all that good stuff.

It's a super exciting find for us historic blade guys. It's so rare for an extant handle to survive like this...
