Coolant evaperation

Any one using a floating oil barrier on top of water soluable oil coolant to reduce evaperation loss? I use a wet saw and milling machine both with plastic collant tanks and thought some cooking oil, maybe corn, would make a good evaperative barrier. I sure don't want to ruin the tanks or pumps with something reactive or turning to jelly! Any thoughts???
