I just got a note that Pelican is now making Yeti type coolers .I have Yetis and I'm very happy with them .They really keep things cooler longer Expensive but they work .The expense is offset by stronger construction so unless you abuse them they should last a long time. the Pelican cases I have are great so I wouldn't hesitate buying their coolers .

Yes, I was close to pulling on the trigger on a Yeti purchase when I learned about the Pelican Coolers. I bought the 45QT Pelican Cooler and I am very happy with my purchase. Best of all, it has a modified Hardigg Stormcase latch (I hate the Pelican latches, hard on my wrists and hands to open).

It depends on how much durability you want. For the price difference, I opted for the Pelican and feel it was money well spent. Most people don't use coolers hard enough for it to make much difference though so, the dollars saved is worthwhile to most.

I own 5 other fishing/boating chests that are all high quality but, no where near as nice as the Pelican. These range from 60 to 120 quarts and will hold ice for ~5 days but, that are not as well built. At ~$100 a pop, they were okay values but, today I'd go all Pelican if I were starting over.
