Yeah, I know...it's a fob.

Anyway, now and then I see pics or real-lifes of lanyards with funky little things on them I know didn't come from the bead shop and isn't even a bead. Some look pretty cool, whatever they are.

So what have you used? And where did it come from...?

I'd post what I've used first but I haven't. It's why I'm here.

My 1 (currently 2) year sobriety chip.

I once attached a small pendent of the bodhisattva of mercy to one of my SRMs.

Then I realized that it was probably the most disrespectful thing to do and removed it after a day.

I can personally recommend you never have too nice of beads on your lanyard. I had a beautiful gold bead that was a nugget my grandfather gave to me as a child and later had it rough polished and a small hole in it... It was worth my than the sebenza it was on. Long story short it was taken from my glove box in the mountains between boise and idaho city and no my truck was not unlocked. Never gotten over it and have never put that much heart into another since, talk about being scarred for life

That's a cool story. Tragicool, but poignant. I suppose in ways that's the ultimate bead.

I once placed a large nugget w/ diamond tie-tac into a small wooden-match box that was welcome slum when I checked into the room, while on a biz trip to some town...the idea being to keep it from the maid's view while I was out--hide it. As I had done every day of the trip. This happened to be departure day following a half day of biz b.s.

Next time I thought of it I was at 29,000 feet an hour out.

The maid had probably cleared the room that same hour ago, no WAY of missing the rattle and the inordinate weight of the box.

I know what you mean about being scarred for life. I've purchased many knives since, trying to diminish this hurt or make it go away. :)

I like that, what tool is it anyway..?

Sebertool M-4. I have the Harley-Davidson spec. edition--i.e. I paid twice what sosa did for the same thing. :p At least I think that's what's in his pic; looks like mine from here.

One caution--although sosa's pic shows it on-keyring, it can come off--the keyring "hole" is only the result of two half-circles coming together, held closed by only the pressure taken to fold and close the tool around the keyring.

God I hope that makes sense.

^^^^^^ Uh oh--check that last post of mine. ^^^^^^^

I'd just glanced at sosa's pic. Now that I look closer it's NOT the same thing. I'd say his is probably something a bit newer and better. Basically same tools and covenience though.

I think I'm right on the 'ring' thing though. He can tell you.

I feel for you, it always baffles me ppl dont have more character in returning things of value. I found a wallet in toronto airport with 2500 cash credit cards and id ofcourse and went way out of my way to find owner and mailed it to him 1 week later. Point is i could NEVER imagine keeping something of value like that or your match box treasure and not at least trying my best to locate the probably crushed owner! i guess if we want gold nuggets with shiny things on them ill keep it to rings

The only consolation I can offer is.....at least you're in the Sawtooth range. God's country..... :)
