I own a great inexpensive knife called the Gerber EZ-Out Skeleton. It goes for about $40-50 but probably can be found for cheaper.

Spyderco Tenacious

Buck Vantage Pro (you can find them for under $50.)

Kabar Phat Bob

Ontario RAT 1

Kershaw Cryo II

Opinels: great for modifying

Opinel,

Stainless or carbon steel. Just about any size. You could get 3 in that price range.

If you had a few bucks more Opinel in Ebony #8, but they are about $63.

is it able to withstand spine whacking? if it can't than its not a quality knife.

None of my quality slip joint folders seem to be able to withstand spine whacking..........does that mean they are not quality?

Cryo I is good stuff, too.

Boker Nano can be found for under fifty, sometimes. Not for everybody.

You have much to learn young grasshopper.

And I would say a modified Opinel would be the coolest knife under $50. Some people get very creative in their designs.
