They aren't perfect but, I am starting to think there is hope for me!

I am referring to the images not the knife.

Those are some clear photos.
It's apears as you can pick the knife up.

By the way, how much do you charge for a photo? ;) :D

Ahhhh..... grasshopper. The student must someday exceed the master!

You are impressing but not surprising me. All along you have shown to have a good eye at what you are seeing through the viewfinder and having the ability to change things till it's right.

Now take the dust and thumbprints off the guard and you can sell that photo.... :p ;) :D I'm restin' easy.....

Great knives, Senator!

When you can snatch the pebble from Coop's hand, it will be time for you to leave the temple. :D

The lighting on the first image is excellent. I would recommed experimenting with a longer focal length and greater distance from the subject, this will compress the perspective and depth of field.

Cheers,

Stephen

I am guessing you used a polarized filter on these shots. For stag, I like to roll it back somewhat or all to show the shape highlights. Although you are showing the colors superbly, the texture can be better shown. It's a compromise.

I think that backgrounds are a personal preference.

I like knife photos with simple backgrounds in colors that highlight the knife and not the background.

Again, I like it when you keep it simple.

Your pictures look great!

Agreed 100%.

(I remember a shot that someone posted a while back of a group of knives placed on a paisley-pattern tablecloth. My retinas are still a bit sore.)

Friendly bump to keep student and teacher close...

Great pictures, Peter. Were these shot with the same camera as Blade photos? Be careful how you answer because my mug didn't come out as well...:D

I talked with my friend Peter. No polarizer, but he DID utilize the editing program I gave him: ACDSee 9.0 (Two versions came for the price of one in my upgrade, since I am a long-time user!) I had given him the complimentary CD. It's my very favorite photo program for all around use and sorting. I have it open more than Photoshop.

Background: Peter once arrived with that roll of nice tan neutral background. I have a BIG piece also now. He is VERY smart, in that he has kept his attention on getting better and clearer images first, and not going after various backgrounds (Like I must do) .
