A brief history:
I have two dads. My biological father and my step father who has been my dad for 29 years. I was blessed in that I had a great relationship with both. Ed Thornbrugh Jr. died in 2001. Before he did he gave me a custom hunting knife that he had made for him. It was trying to find some information about the maker that lead me to these forums.
I had ordered these knives a while back, and in August Ed Thornbrugh Sr passed away. Once again, my brothers and I carried a casket to the final resting spot.
I struggled a bit, and to be honest, have truly come to hate the month of August. It has taken two Ed Ts in consecutive years.
I kept running into items that brought up memories.
I had ordered these knives for my dad, Dennis Brown, and I.
He doesn't like big knives and rarely buys anything new.
When they were finished, Michael emailed me about engraving. I asked if he could put Father on one and Son on the other.
These will stay in the family as another way of remembering.
At some point these will go to my son, along with the stories of the hunting, fishing, camping trips they will go on.
This probably doesn't make much sense to others, but it does to me.
When I say they are perfect, others may be critical of design or size or any of a hundred other things.
I just kind of wanted to let you know what I meant by perfect.
