I see the various Copper Cutlery brands showing up on the bib auction site, Weed, Battle Axe etc. and They just don't do anything for me. Being an Ohio native I want to like them but they just don't rise to their price point to me. I will say that they appear to be improving but they need to do better if they want to compete with GEC which seems to be where their pricing is.

I also note that they have 12 different old brands that they are resurrecting - Shades of Jim Parker and his slew of knife brands brought back from obscurity.

pretty sure there were several threads started regarding them, the general reception was poor tho

Just spotting a few off their website, there seems to be a little left to be desired in terms of design finesse. Hard to quite put my finger on it, but there's some strange choices in nail nick placement, wharncliffe shape and non-rounded handle slabs. Looks like they got a little half baked.

Actually, the tacky pot leaf shield makes a few of them fully baked, I suppose.

I wish them luck- I'd love to have another company to buy from in the USA.

The weed shield makes me have no interest in them. I know they make other stuff but it struck me as very tacky, gimmicky, and something I'd find at the local knife store that sells cheap swords and dragon figurines.

I'd rather take a chance on the Case quality lottery and buy Case.

Lots to read here....

I don't think of them.
From what I've seen in the various threads, the quality just isn't there ... looks to be between Bud K and base line made in Pakistan FROST knife shaped objects.
Also, I have not seen a pattern that I'm interested in, and everything is priced so far out of my price range, they may as well be in another solar system or galaxy.

I do hope they get the quality up and value for the price with-in reason ... perhaps updating/restoring the old worn out machinery (or the techs running them learn their idiosyncracies, like the old techs at S&M who used them last had) would raise the quality to an acceptable level?
North America needs more cutlery companies with domestic production. (also electronics/computer/TV, Radio, Home and Business Appliances ...)

I bought a big chief a while back. For 40 bucks it's a pretty solid user. The action is good, had an acceptable edge, and it carries nicely for being a large-ish knife.
