I need new tires for my 02 Ford Ranger FX4 with 140,000 miles on it. I'm looking at the Cooper Discoverer t/T3. They are about $100 (total) cheaper than the BF Goodrich KO TA's that I've always had on the truck. ($700 mounted for the Coopers, $800 mounted for the BFGs)

Although 100 isn't all that much, given my current circumstances, its nothing to sneeze at either because I need some other work done too.

It is my main driver, mainly paved roads. We get a lot of snow in the winter, but otherwise, just some logging roads for fun here and there.

I know the BFGs are good, are the Coopers a reasonably equivelent tire?

Shann... I have Discoverer X/Ts on my 03 Explorer Sport (2 door)...only used on highway, but get very good rain traction which is a priority down here

I had Cooper Tires on two cars and didn't have any problems or faults with them.

Check the reviews on www.tirerack.com.
You can select tires based on brand, price range, and application. At least you can make a more informed buying decision even if you buy the tires at a local store instead of having them shipped to a shop of your choice.

Tirerack.com doesn't sell coopers.

I've had two consecutive sets of Cooper Discoverer ST's on my jeep. They are a little loud, but with a proper rotation schedule I've gotten 50,000 miles out of the first set and hope to do the same with the second.

I put Cooper Discoverer H/T tires on my Tacoma about 12K miles ago. There is very little visible wear on them and the first thing that I noticed is that are much quieter
and smoother then the OEM tires*. Also, they were on sale. :D
