Here's one I'm just finishing. Gentleman wanted a 6 inch "old-time" Bowie knife with an Oosik handle so I came up with this.
Blade is acid washed W2, fittings are file worked and heat blued carbon steel with hammered copper adornments.
Knife is 30 pieces total. I really enjoyed experimenting with the patina.

It looks pretty good, nice fit and finish from the photos.

Completely not my cup of tea, but easily one of the better pieces that I have seen done in this style. Looks like it came right out of one of the antique bowie books.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Thanks Steven. I know you're not one to give compliments lightly so your comment is doubly appreciated.

Creative thinking and process. I'm not surprised. :)

I've counted five times and I stop at 26 parts, including the (6) pins in the spacer, (2) in the guard, and (2) in the butt.

What's inside? ;)

I also love the copper. I want to see some knives with copper pins or lanyard tubes, I think the natural color of copper is beautiful.

Thanks all.

Coop, all of the spacer pieces are pinned together with 4 copper pins and there are 2 alignment pins hidden under the copper at the butt.
Thanks again everyone.
