I am looking for some thin copper stock for liner on a knife that I am making. I have been able to find brass stock at a local craft store but have not been able to find copper. Does anyone have a source for thin copper material?

Thanks
Dean

There is a long history of using copper on blades, but does this ever create corrosion problems? One is kinda building a battery.

I think it has to be surrounded by a solution of something(water or an acid or base)in order for an oxidation reaction to take place (batterys).
If its for a folding knife, I would be a little concerned with it tarnishing easily. I use copper tubing to make some fittings for folders and have found that it discolors much faster than brass. It doesn't look bad, but it won't stay bright like it is when you polish it up.
Just a thought.

I had never thought much about using copper for liners. However the knife I am currently making has copper/nickel Mokume bolsters and desert ironwood scales. This knife just kind of begs for some copper liners to match.

hmmm...and if I add to Sulfuric Acid...I could have a Duracell.. :D

Galvanic corrosion will take place if two dissimilar metals touch if one or both can oxidize from atmospheric moisture and oxygen. They don't need to be wet.

You could use stainless steel, 28 gage which they use for flashing around chimneys.
