This was an impulse buy. Really happy with it, vg10, nice action, thumb studs AND flipper AND grove for pinch opening. Not perfect, it’s a little heavy and a little thick blade stock.
Gritty until I took it apart and cleaned it but much smoother now.

Over all, for $30 I think this is an outstanding knife

Oh yeah, one other thing. Not a fan of the pivot design, 2 screws like with a spyderco but there’s no flat on the pivot so I had to use a good amount of lock right and fiddle with it some to get it adjusted.
Again, for only $30 I am still happy with it

I don’t have any Rough Rider modern knives (well, one Wak-type sword that was an impulse buy), but they do a good job on traditional styles. It used to be you could get any RR for sub-$10, but I think folks are catching on that there’s little difference between a RR and a Case.

I’m not sure how I’d feel about a RR with a modern, locking blade. I’d probably have to give it a try to feel comfortable with it.

It’s not going to kick my 940 out utg think it’s easily as good if not better than any other $30 knife out there
