Any tips or tricks regarding making a sheath with a Copperhead skin inlay panel?
I have recently experienced a small invasion of copperheads way to close to my house. I have a friend that is tanning a couple of them. Is there any thing special about the way they were tanned to make them work for a sheath insert?
I will have the sheath lined and probably have a layer of kydex for stiffness due to the length (19" blade)
I have a new Busse Team Gemini Sword arriving on Tuesday and I'm planning on making or having made a nice leather sheath for it. I think a Copperhead inlay would look great.

Do a little research on how Paul Long did inlays for a lot of great information. His process of splitting the face panel, cutting out the area for the inlay, using the cut out piece as a backer and then gluing the split pieces back together works very well. Lacking a splitter, just use thinner leather for the front and backing piece. Snake skin is relatively easy to work with but can be somewhat fragile so careful handling during build and use is important.
