The General guys redirected me over here so pardon the double post:

What characteristics make up a Copperhead? I see that they all have the same shape of Bolsters, especially the front one. Also why the name "Copperhead"?

thanks

They might be named after the copperhead snake. The knife has two "fangs" so to speak. I really have no idea though. I'm just bored.

I have no idea how it gots it's name. Would like to know though. And what exactly makes it a Copperhead? General shape, length, blade types. But I am a newby and just guessing. I am sure a more knowlegable person will chime in. Though I don't knowa whole lot about them, they are my favorite pattern.

I'm pretty sure the bolster design most defines the pattern, and it is made to cover the sharp upper corner of the blade in the closed position. Same for a canoe, which is basically a double-ended copperhead. Compare a closed stockman and a closed copperhead (or canoe) and i think you'll see what I mean. Why it's called a copperhead I have no idea.

I believe it's called a copperhead because of the triangular shape of the bolster--it has the sharp triangular corner of a copperhead snake.
