why are they called copper locks?
They have a bolster like that of a copperhead pattern and feature a lockback. Hence copperlock.![]()
Which begs the question; why is a copperhead called a copperhead?
I guess some folks think the bolster is reminiscent of this:
Hope those aren't your fingers.
That was one of the two options I was considering, but it seemed so far out in left field that I would've felt foolish suggesting it had I been wrong. The other had something to do with copper liners. Anyway thanks for clearing that up.
Here's an SS version wearing red bone. I got it as a gift at my Eagle Scout ceremony. To date it's unused and uncarried. It feels so nice in my hand, I'm constantly tempted to slip it into the EDC pile....

Spoonin'
My tripod just busted.
It's funny. The big one and the little one nests inside perfectly. Each end is dead even at 90 degrees. Coincidence?

Those are very nice but please don't show them spooning again!
I'd love to see the offspring from that encounter.

A "mini" copperlock, naturally.![]()
bought this pattern by the ton when they came out . for using i preffered the cv steel.always wished case had brought the copperlock out in their red bone.these were the best trouser pocketknife, so slim & rounded. gave all of mine away & did'nt know why case quit this great pattern.they were great on deer skinning & held a good edge.
